Discontinuous Disturbance (Click) Test

EN 55014 Click Test enables the measurement of short-duration electromagnetic impulses, also known as click/interference signals, that occur during the switching operations of switches, buttons and other mechanical parts in household electrical appliances and similar equipment. This test ensures that the electromagnetic impulses emitted by devices during operation remain within the specified limits. It verifies the compliance of short-duration disturbances, known as click impulses, generated during switching operations or other mechanical interactions of devices with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards. In this way, devices are ensured to operate safely without causing interference in other electronic systems.

Test Structure and Features

  • Tests are generally performed in the frequency range of 150 kHz - 30 MHz
  • Special click analyzers and LISN (Line Impedance Stabilization Network) are used
  • The duration, repetition interval and intensity of discontinuous disturbances are measured
  • Procedures compliant with standards such as IEC 61000-3-2 and CISPR 14-1 are applied

What Is Its Purpose?

This test is carried out to determine whether the device causes sudden electromagnetic disturbances in other surrounding systems. It is widely applied to products such as household appliances, motor-driven equipment and industrial automation devices. It is a critical test for CE marking and market compliance.

Compliance with Standards

Our discontinuous disturbance tests comply with international standards such as EN 55014-1, CISPR 14-1 and IEC 61000-3-3. Click events recorded during the test process are analyzed with special software and reported in detail.

Why Is It Important?

Discontinuous disturbances known as clicks may cause visible or audible disturbances in televisions, radio receivers and other sensitive electronic devices. Failure to keep these disturbances under control may lead to product recalls or user complaints. The discontinuous disturbance test ensures both the user experience and regulatory compliance of your product.
